How to Clean Car Floor Mats
Take the mats out, check what they're made of, and vacuum loose dirt. Follow the care instructions for your mats, let them dry fully, and secure them before you drive.

Check your floor-mat material before cleaning
Carpet mats, rubber mats, and molded liners may need different care. Look at the mat label and your car's manual first. A mat with a washable-looking top may have a backing that needs different care. If you cannot tell what you have, ask the mat maker or check its instructions before adding water or cleaner.
Remove the mats and loose dirt
With the car parked, follow its instructions for removing each mat. Carry the mats out, shake off loose dirt where it is safe to do so, then vacuum crumbs, grit, and dust. Ford's carpet and floor-mat care instructions start with vacuuming loose dirt. That simple first step also helps you see what still needs cleaning.
Clean carpet mats with care
Ford's carpet-care instructions describe a soft, damp cloth and mild soap after vacuuming and warn against soaking. Check your mat's own instructions and backing before trying that method. For a set-in mark, check the label or ask before using a stronger cleaner.
Wash rubber mats only as their maker allows
Check the instructions for your rubber mat or liner before washing it. WeatherTech's guide for its own mats and liners describes removing them from the car, using water and mild detergent with a medium-bristle brush, rinsing, and drying. That is an example for the products it covers, not a method for every rubber mat or backing.
Dry and refit floor mats before driving
Let mats dry all the way before putting them back. Ford's care instructions call for complete drying before refitting.
Put each mat on the correct side, make sure it lies flat, and use the retainers your vehicle and mat call for. Do not stack mats or leave one where it could move into the pedals. WeatherTech's liner-fitting guide explains these fit and pedal checks for its liners. Follow your own vehicle and mat instructions; if a mat will not stay secure, leave it out until you have the correct fit.
Ask RANA when the cabin needs more cleaning
If the mats and floors need more than a quick clean, RANA's Interior Detail Reset includes washed carpets and mats, a full vacuum, seat shampoo and extraction, cleaned cabin surfaces and glass, and odor removal. Tell us about the mat material and any spill or stain when you request the service. Results depend on the condition of the car.

Request an interior detail
Book Your Detail to send your vehicle, address, and preferred week, day, and arrival window. RANA will confirm your ZIP code, worksite access, property permission, utilities, and timing before the visit. The form sends a request; it does not reserve an appointment. See the mobile visit checklist for what to have ready.
If there is no hose or outlet at your parking spot, call to ask whether a Fairfax work location can be arranged. RANA will confirm that option before you go there.
